2006 Mammoth Opening Day!

Best. Opening. Day. EVER! Well, not really. So, Mammoth Mountain opened yesterday, November 9, 2006. There were no big storms and there was no real snow anywhere, but Mammoth had the snow blowers going full force to build a thin strip of flakes down Broadway, one of their main runs.

But, no snow didn't stop hordes of snowboarders from having some fun. I'd say about 400 to 500 kids came out to flail down the big, tilted ice rink over and over. Watch out for the rocks and crazy rollers! The Unbound crew did a great job of getting a couple of jibs up on the hill: three flat boxes, an old lift tower and an up-down box. It was super fun. Check the photos. Guess what, kids? Winter is here!
