Resort Update: Mammoth Mountain

Pre-Rail Jam overview.
On the weekend of May 5-7, 2006, Mammoth Mountain held their annual West Coast Invitational event, and the ThirtyTwo and etnies Snow crews rolled up for a good time. In 2005-06, Mammoth has had one of their best years ever, receiving around 650 inches of snow! Yeah, 650 inches! That's more snow than some resorts get in five years! Anyway, with a base of 13 to 15 feet in May, you know it was a good time.

One Friday, the Cinco de Pipa pipe jam went down, complete with pinatas for riders to hit. I saw Chad Otterstrom fly well over and above the pinatas. He ended up winning and walking away with $3,000. Not bad for a couple of hours of pipe riding. At that same time, we had the ThirtyTwo and etnies tents up and running, giving away free stuff and a chance to win ThirtyTwo gear. Also, team riders like Stian Solberg, Alexis Waite and Leanne Pelosi were chilling with the kids that stopped by.

On Saturday, they had a ski contest on Broadway, one of the main runs right in front on the lodge. It looked pretty cool, but we were all riding the best Springtime pipe / park I have ever ridden. I love that mountain! If you've never been to Mammoth, you better get up there!

Pat Millberry, killin' it in the Rail Jam.
Finally, the main event--a Rail Jam in the village--was ready to go down. We had the ThirtyTwo condo--which overlooked the event from the third floor of the village--ready to go. We cooked dinner for everyone. Thanks to Foxy and Candice for all the food. Then we drank some beer and watched all the riders destroy the rails from our balcony. Sorry, I had too many beers to remember which tricks went down. Maybe next time. That pretty much goes for the afterparty, too.
Anyway, thanks to Mammoth Mountain for putting on a super-fun event, and all the ThirtyTwo and etnies riders that represented. Oh yeah, the winner of our giveaway contest was Josh Jamie! Congrats, Josh!
