Team Report 05-01-06

"April showers bring May flowers" is a slight a understatement this season. Even the old saying “Miracle March” is a month off...at least for the West Coast. Check out what some of the ThirtyTwo team riders have been up to.

Fredrik Austbo is chillin' on the couch, recovering from his knee surgery. Unfortunately, he blew it out before the Olympics and didn’t realize it until after all the excitement. He’s doing well and keeping a positive attitude about everything. Luckily, he’s so young he’ll bounce back in no time. Good luck, Freddy. We’ll see you soon. Oh yeah, and happy belated birthday! Freddy just turned 18 on April 20. Yep, that's 420, and you know what that means.

John Jackson and Eric Jackson have been quite the busy bros. They’ve been spending the whole season destroying it wherever they go. John and Eric have been up and down the West Coast and even ventured out to Montana a handful of times. They’re in Whistler right now, slaying it with Standard Films. They’ve encountered a few roadblocks during their mission, but nothing's stopping them from having fun and killing it in the backcountry.

If you haven’t checked out the new Snowboard magazine lately, you should, because the Jackson brothers have a full interview in there explaining their passion for shredding. It’s pretty cool. Anyways, they’ll continue to slaughter it until this Summer. If you want to try and meet these guys, you may get lucky at the Standard Films prmeiere sometime this Fall. Be sure to check back here for dates and details.

Sierra at Tahoe cable cam madness! Defective filmer Chris Edmunds, getting roped up for the sick angle. Thanks to the crew at Sierra for setting this up for the Defective Films pipe session.

Markku always looks like he’s having a good time while shredding. He makes it look so easy.

Markku Koski has been in the U.S. for a bit now, getting his shred on. He’s been hanging out in Tahoe with the Defective crew, filming and shooting photos. He’ll be in the States until the end of April, fly back to Finland for a bit and then head off to Lapland or Hemsedal, Norway. Check out some of the images from the Sierra at Tahoe shoot. Be on the lookout for Markku in the Defective Films video scheduled to be released sometime in Fall 2007.

Stian and Markku, sharing the festivities and getting involved for Chris Edmunds' birthday.

Tyler Lepore survived the etnies 20 year Anniversary party, despite meeting a few strange NYC vets. He went crazy buying up tons of art books and a few special items for a special person. Ty’s back in Vancouver shredding the local resorts, as well as hitting up Whistler when it’s good. He’s also been busy this season with home improving and maintaining his passion for doodling and working on his bike. You may catch Tyler tossing back a few wildcats in Kevin Sansalone’s new film scheduled to be released this Fall.

Clockwise from top left: etnies 20 Year Anniversary party, New York, April 6, 2006. Markku Koski. Lexi and Leanne, trying to put the moves on. C’mon, ladies, he’s only six years old! Benji Ritchie and Tyler Lepore signing some posters for all those eager kids. Way to go, guys!

Janna “Banana” Meyen has been working her ass off. She’s been focusing 120% on her video part with the Volcom crew. Janna spent the last three weeks in Alaska slaying it. Be sure to check her part in the highly anticipated Volcom video scheduled to be released this Fall.

Leanne "Party" Pelosi just never stops. She’s been all over the globe this year. Canada, Europe, Japan, New York, Stratton, SoCal. She’s probably one of the busiest shredders out there. After her world tour, Plo will be catching up on some fashion shows or maybe pounding some shruity frots somewhere on an island. Who knows?

Party Pelosi and Sexi Lexi enjoy a huge bottle of Vodka and some Red Bull.

Benji "Loose Lips" Ritchie is back in Whistler after the New York extravaganza. He’s still going out in the backcountry, where it just keeps snowing and snowing. Benji’s been filming with the Whiteout crew all season, so be sure to check out his part later this Fall.

Stian Solberg has been on a mission. He flew from Norway straight to Canada earlier this season and dove right into being the road warrior all season long. He’s been filming with Defective Films and shooting with various photographers. You might catch Stian along the West Coast during the Young & Restless tour with some other ThirtyTwo shredders like Eric Jackson and Freddy Austbo. Be sure to check back here on the site for details...
Here’s a sneak peak at what Stian’s been doing all season.

Stian, giving it to the camera. Haaaaa-yah!

Jussi "Juicy" Tarvainen took a little bit of a break from snow shredding this month due to a slight knee injury. Nothing serious, he just landed flat one too many times. He’s been a trooper all season long. Jussi is stoked on his work visa, so he’s been enjoying life as a foreigner, living the Cali dream. Jussi’s been filming with the Mack Dawg crew all Winter, so be sure to check him out. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed...

Alexis Waite, also known as Sexi Lexi, has been chillin' in Salt Lake City, Utah after traveling back and fourth from state to state and abroad to Europe. She recently got back from Switzerland, where she placed 8th in the Roxy Chicken Jam. Not bad for partying hard in New York and flying straight to Europe.

Now she’s getting ready to head out to Mammoth for the Ms. Superpark session. Shortly after that, she’ll be heading back to ThirtyTwo headquarters to work with the R&D crew and strike a pose for the camera. Lexi’s been also concentrating on filming with Misschief, so be sure to check her out onscreen sometime this Fall.

Last but not least, Wille Yli-Luoma’s nowhere to be found. Just kidding! He's been on a crazy mission this season, filming with the Volcom crew. And from what I gather, Wille’s been killing it. I can’t wait to see his footage, because I can’t even comprehend some of the lines I’ve seen him do. Just be sure to check him in the new Volcom flick.
