International Team Report 03-16-05
Oh yeah, here we go again! The snow is great in Europe, and the team riders are motivated. A lot of contests have been going on during the last couple of weeks. Besides, it's been dumping again in February, and the Arlberg area is dominated by film teams from the USA and Europe.
Hampus Mosesson just made his way back to Europe, after filming in the States for a month with the Defective film crew. He got hurt and is taking a little break back at home now, before going to the Battle to fight for the local
team.
Tomi Savela is based in Mayrhofen, Austria during this season, along with Heppu Pentti, Kaius Korpela and Harri Holmsten. He won the Big Air Contest in Slovakia, which was held from February 18-20! Tomi is super-motivated this season after his hard time in the army, and he is traveling all over Europe to shoot and film as much as possible. Heppu got 3rd at the Big Air in Slovakia, and Kaius Korpela got 6th!
Chris Sörman won his Ticket to Ride with a 1st place showing at the European Open's Men's Slopestyle in January! In February, he went to Japan for a contest and made it to the Finals, but it ended up getting canceled due to bad weather! After that, Chris headed straight to the X Box Big Day Out contest in Val D'Isere, France.
He had fun riding, but not too much luck with his runs, so he didn't make it into the Finals. But, Chris was so motivated that he didn't stop riding after that. Instead, he kept on showing off his smooth, incredible style the whole evening. After the Big Day Out, Chris went to Laax for an Onboard photo shoot. Watch out for him in the future. He has sooooooo much STYLE.
Other ThirtyTwo riders at the contest included Markku Koski, Joni Mäkinen and Aleksi Vanninen. Aleksi made it into the Finals, but due to a painful knee, he was over it after two runs, and couldn't really stick a trick! Joni and Markku, who didn't make it into the Finals, had the pleasure of judging the Finals and Super Finals. Markku went to Arlberg after the Big Day Out to film with Standard, and is now heading straight to The Battle in Falun, Sweden on March17-20. Markku was chosen Team Captain of the Finnish Team.
Harri Holmsten got invited to the Big Air contest in Latvia, where he ended up in 2nd place. He also attended the Volcom Rail contest over there, where he snagged 1st. Not bad for one week's work! Congrats, Harri!
Jussi Tarvainen went to Japan to film with the Absinthe Crew. He was stoked about the nice powder conditions they had and the many shots they were able to get! He also bought tons of little electronic robots and toys, and will be busy putting them together for the next couple of months. Right now, Jussi is traveling in the Alps, attending a Helly Hansen photo shoot, and filming with the Absinthe Crew.
Jens Anselstetter went to Japan in February, as well, where he's filming and shooting. Needless to say, he's already collected a lot of footage and shots!
Thomas Harstad just came back from his trip to Russia, where he went on a rail mission in the amazing city of Moscow. But, it turned out to be not that great! Now he's back in Europe, filming and shooting with the Storbis crew for his video part. Thomas will head to the States with the rest of the Storbis crew on April 1 to get more footage.
